Self install instructions – Fibre Modem (GPON)
What’s in the box?
Mounting the modem in the panel:
1 – Connect the power adapter (Figure 2) to the GPON modem (Figure 1). After about 30 seconds, a GREEN power light should turn on.
2 – Peel off one side of the velcro sticker that is on the MMC Modem.
3 – Place the MMC Modem into the panel box (normally found in the closet or storage room) so that it is close to the Fibre Cable and stick it to the panel.
Connecting the fibre:
If you see a fibre cable in your panel box as Figure A, please continue to follow the steps below. If you see a surface mounted box in your panel box as Figure B, please jump to ” For Scenario B ONLY – Connecting the fibre”.
For Scenario A ONLY – Connecting the fibre:
1 – Inside the panel box, you should see a spool of black fibre optic wire with a green end hanging. There might be a small, green dust cap at the on the tip of this end. If so, remove it.
2 – You should have also received a green coupler. Remove the black dust caps from either end of the coupler. (*Do not remove dust caps until you are ready to perform self-install.)
3 – Insert the green end of the fibre optic that is hanging in the panel box and insert it in one end of the green coupler. If you hear a clicking sound, you know it’s in securely.
4 – You should have also received a yellow, fibre optic cable (Figure 3). Both end should be green. On the one end, remove any dust caps that might be there and insert it into the other end of the green coupler.
5 – With the other green end of the included fibre cable, plug that into the port on GPON Modem (Figure 1).

For Scenario B ONLY – Connecting the fibre:
1 – Inside the panel box, you should see a surface mounted box:
2 – You should also have received a yellow, fibre optic cable (Figure 3). One side has a green tip, the other end should be blue. On the green end, remove any dust caps that might be there.
3 – On the green end, remove any dust caps that might be there and insert it into the open end of the surface mounted box. It should now look like this:
4 – With the other green end of the included fibre cable, plug that into the port on GPON Modem (Figure 1).
Connecting the router:
– If you have an U4 router in your box as Figure A, please continue to follow the steps below.
– If you have a 844E router in your box as Figure B, please jump to “B – Connecting the 844E Router”.
– If you have a U6 router in your box as Figure C, please jump to “C – Connecting the U6 Router”.
A: Connecting the U4 router:
1 – With the included ethernet cable (Figure 4), plug one end into the ethernet port on the GPON Modem. It should now look like this:
2 – With the other end of the ethernet cable, plug this directly into the ethernet port of your router.
3 – Connect to available wall electrical socket and the routers power port.
4 – Turn Router On: The light on the left at the back should turn on automatically and flash YELLOW.
5 – Boot-Up: Allow the device to fully boot-up (about 4 minutes) until the light is solid GREEN. (*There may be multiple outlets in your home, however only 1 will give the active connection. Please try all available outlets before contacting support*)
6 – Connect to the WiFi: Select the wifi network name that starts with, “NOVUS_” followed by the SSID located on the sticker that is on the side of your router. When prompted for the password or passphrase enter the WPA Key which is also listed on the side of our router.
Please jump to the last section.
B: Connecting the 844E router:
1 – With the included ethernet cable (Figure 4), plug one end into the ethernet port on the GPON Modem. Itshould now look like this
2 – With the other end of the ethernet cable, plug this directly into the ethernet port of your router.
3 – Connect the Power Cord: connect to available wall electrical socket and the routers power port.
4 – Turn Router On: Push the ON/OFF switch on the back of the router. The power light on the front of the device should turn on immediately.
5 – Boot-Up: Allow the device to fully boot-up (about 4 minutes) until the service light is GREEN. *There may be multiple outlets in your home, however only 1 will give the active connection. Please try all available outlets before contacting support
6 – Connect to the WiFi: Select the wifi network name that starts with, “NOVUS_” followed by the SSID located on the sticker that is on the side of your router. When prompted for the password or passphrase enter the WPA Key which is also listed on the side of our router.
C: Connecting the U6 router:
1 – With the included ethernet cable (Figure 4), plug one end into the ethernet port on the GPON Modem. Itshould now look like this
2 – With the other end of the ethernet cable, plug this directly into the WAN port of your router.
3 – Connect the Power Cord: connect to available wall electrical socket and the routers power port.
4 – Turn Router On: The bar light on the edge should turn on automatically and flash YELLOW. Allow the device to fully boot-up (about 4 minutes).
5 – Boot-Up: Once the device boots up successfully, you will see the light is solid GREEN. (If the unit is constantly flashing RED – the boot up is failed). *There may be multiple outlets in your home, however only 1 will give the active connection. Please try all available outlets before contacting support
6 – Connect to the WiFi: Select the wifi network name that starts with, “NOVUS_” followed by the SSID located on the sticker that is on the side of your router. When prompted for the password or passphrase enter the WPA Key which is also listed on the side of our router.
Your Internet service should now be connected. Test your connection by opening a web page on your device.
